Avenview at ISE 2017

The Integrated Systems Europe Show (ISE 2017) recently took place at the RAI Amsterdam from Feb 7-10, 2017. This year, the show’s 14th, was another banner year for attendance, floor space and exhibitors. Record breaking numbers of attendees packed the show floor, hitting a final number of 73, 413. Over 1100 AV equipment vendors and suppliers showcased their latest technology for the digital signage, unified communications, audio, smart building, residential and education sectors. This certainly made ISE2017 an exciting show to attend – and a rewarding show to exhibit at.

This year, Avenview was back at the show with a 6m x 7m booth packed with active displays and live demos. New products were displayed and there were some great events at the booth, and at the show.

Avenview Products:

As Tim Albright of AVNation has pointed out in his blog, there were two big stories coming out of this year’s show, Video over IP and Retail and Digital Signage. If you were lucky enough to stop by the Avenview booth, you would have seen both! Avenview is proud to be on the forefront of both technologies with the MSeries and the AVSignPro.

Composed of transmitters and receivers, the Video over IP M-Series provides a platform for transmitting high quality video over CATx networks using H.264. Avenview now has a complete line of M-Series receivers, including new 4K encoders and decoders, which allow users to create a video matrix, multiviewer, or video wall.

A powerful digital signage player, the Avenview AVSignPro comes packed with features that allow users to turn any display into a powerful marketing tool and use it to entertain, inform and communicate with customers, shoppers, employees or students. Available immediately, the AVSignPro is available in three different configurations: AVSignPro – 4K Digital Signage Player (MP-4KHDM), AVSignPro – Digital Signage Player (MP-1080HDM), and the AVSignPro – Digital Signage Player with Live Video Input (MP-1080HDMVL).

Also featured in our booth, the AVXWALL is Avenview’s flagship video wall processor. Developed to be flexible, scalable and customizable, the AVXWALL is the ultimate video wall solution that can be customized for any project, whether simple or highly complex. Booth visitors were given the opportunity to use our iPad interface to control our 9-screen video wall, creating an interactive and practical control environment.

Two Great Events:

Avenview was part of two great events at ISE 2017. First, a Customer Appreciation Reception in the Avenview booth provided a great opportunity to have some fun after the first 2 days of the show. A few cocktails, a DJ and some great opportunities to network and socialize with new friends and customers provided a great end to the day and a fun way to relax.

Avenview was also proud to sponsor the M2D Networking Event in Café Amsterdam. A great end to the show, the M2D reception took place on Friday February 10 from 3-5 pm, and welcomed manufacturers looking for new distributors and distributors looking for new product lines to add to their range. It was a great opportunity to meet new people and make new connections.

We are already looking forward to 2018 when ISE returns to RAI Amsterdam on Feb 6-9, 2018. We hope to see you there!

Thank you for visiting us at ISE 2017!

Uncompressed 4K@60 HDMI digital video signal over IP

apex4k_ip4k_advert_640x480

As the ProAV world continues to strive for improving digital communication and display in different sectors of public areas, corporate environments, and private institutions, there is a growing need to distribute AV signals of higher quality over longer distances. Traditional analog technology is being replaced by more advanced and higher quality digital equipment. One example of this is in the increasing prevalence of AV distribution over IP networks. Technologies are advancing and are allowing Ultra-HD video distribution over a 10GB network without using large bandwidth or losing image quality. IP network distribution has become a fast growing segment due to this high quality transmission capability combined with lower infrastructure costs and reliable delivery of content.

Avenview is proud to provide an industry leading solution for distribution of AV over IP with the APEX4K series. The HDM2-APEX4K over IP extender from Avenview with Matrix, Multiviewer and Video Wall functions is designed around a revolutionary technology for AV signal distribution, the award-winning BlueRiver NT and NT+ chips from AptoVision that enable the extension, switching and compositing of real-time, uncompressed Ultra-HD 4K@60 signals with zero-frame latency over the off-shelf 10 Gb Ethernet switches.

The 4K video over IP Extender employs FPGA chip technology and a high-bandwidth synchronous packet based architecture for pixel transmission and it is among the first IP-based products to transmit uncompressed 4K AV signals.

With two models available in the APEX4K series allows users to enjoy true 4K @ 30Hz and @ 60Hz and can transmit any source signal (media player, PC or server, Blu-Ray player or digital signage player) to anywhere on the same gigabit network within 100 m using existing CAT6 infrastructure. This helps to save further costs of installing new and dedicated cabling. With fiber optic cable, this device will transmit up to 30km in the future.

The APEX 4K series IP Extenders provide a multi-function easy installation while reducing costs and size of equipment. Custom AV switches are not required and are replaced with off the shelf 10 Gigabit Ethernet switches. The series helps cut costs for installers due to lower cost of the switches that can cost as little as 1/10th of a custom AV switch and in addition, other network equipment can share the LAN as well; there is no need for a separate Data and AV LAN.

The device also has built-in scalability since high-bandwidth uplinks on most IP switches allow easy addition of I/Os beyond the maximum density of the installed switch. Custom AV switches, on the other hand, often require full replacement in order to upgrade.

IR and RS232 functionality ensure this device can be controlled from anywhere with the designated software that allows the user to easily create and configure a video matrix, switch video sources or combine sources to create a video wall.

Distribution, display, and switching possibilities are endless. The APEX4K can be used in multiple custom solutions using combinations of transmitting encoders and receiving decoders and is perfect for a multitude of applications across many market sectors such as Board Rooms, Retail Display, Menu Boards, Sports Bars and more.

How to Prepare for InfoComm: #MyInfoCommAdvice

How to prepare for the Trade Show: Tips for Exhibitors and Attendees

With each day that gets us closer to InfoComm 2016 a lot of us are finishing our pre-show preparations to deliver the best experience to our customers and visitors. To leave a lasting impression of your company that the customers will remember for a long time, we’ve compiled a list of must-haves and nice-to-haves for you to use.

Let’s start off with things you can do before the show to prepare for a successful event:

  1. As an exhibitor, major stuff like contacting the organizer, getting a booth, renting the booth equipment, booking your hotel and flights, deciding what products to showcase at the show, printing promotional material should be the main focus for the whole preparation for the show. Make sure to design your booth according to your company’s current branding and product line. Engage your visitors at the booth. Remember the famous Maya Angelou comment “They may forget what you said but will remember how you made them feel”? Making them feel special, valued and entertained will not only increase engagement in your booth but also will help you establish valuable emotional connection. You can do that by adding some game elements to your booth experience that will also educate visitors about your company.
  2. If you’re preparing to attend the show make sure to print a  lot of business cards. Making meaningful connections can be your goal for the show and leaving a lasting positive impression is crucial. Pro tip: You can write key points from the conversation on the back of the card. That will make your follow up more personalized and relevant to the conversation you had.
  3. Schedule, schedule, schedule. Plan your InfoComm 2016 experience beforehand: schedule time to be away from your own booth and mark the booths you want to visit, get acquainted with the demo schedules and make sure to set up appointments with your current customers, prospects, or business partners. You can confirm their availability via email invitation a couple of days before the meeting. Remember, failing to plan is planning to fail.
  4. Exhibitors, prepare for the meaningful meetings in advance and make it easy for your customers to meet you. If you’re planning to have business meetings with clients over dinner make reservations beforehand.  If you delay making reservations, your business meeting will not have the same outcome as anticipated since the restaurants might be busy and you might have to wait to be seated.

During the show:

  1. Make sure to arrive a bit early on the first day of the show to catch up with colleagues over a cup of coffee and stroll around the venue after the registration. Rushing dulls the experience and you want to start the day with excitement and positive energy.
  2. Wear comfortable shoes. Standing and walking around can take all day and by the end of it you don’t want to be focusing on your shoes all the time but rather concentrate on the information you’re getting from the show and networking.
  3. Stay hydrated! Bring a bottle of water. Since the trade shows usually take place in closed environment sometimes the the air can be very dry so you’ll need to stay on top of your water drinking. Most of the trade shows have water stations where you can refill your water bottle for free.
  4. Attend the opening keynote especially if it’s your first time at the show. The words from organizers, sponsors, and guests will not only give you the idea what to focus on during your networking but also will give you a brief breakdown of the day so you can plan better.
  5. Try to network everywhere: over a cup of coffee, during break sessions, at the booths. Focus on making connections with people, understand their problems and figure out the ways how your company can help solving them. Remember, it is not only  a great opportunity to gain new customers but also a valuable platform to showcase your company as a thought leader who cares about what its customers have to say.
  6. Keep your badge exposed at all occasions, this is the first piece of information people see about you so why hide it? After all, we’re here to gain connections, right?
  7. Always opt for soft media (email subscriptions etc) but don’t hesitate to take brochures as well, they present not only a great piece of information about the company but also can be used as a fan when it’s too hot. Double win!
  8. Do whatever you like but Don’t skip meals. Remember, to stay the most productive your brain needs a lot of energy to process all the new information you usually get at the trade show (new products, new connections, company names etc). If you know you will not have time to grab a lunch, bring a snack. Ready-to-go options like whole nuts and protein bars will not replace the full course meal but will keep you full for some time and they don’t take a lot of space in your bag. And if you’re enjoying the conversation with someone you just met, ask them to continue the conversation over lunch or dinner this way you will not only have a nice conversation over a meal but also leave a great impression.
  9. Freebies like USB keys, pens, notebooks, power bars are available at some booths, so don’t hesitate to take one. They can be used throughout the show and can be a great tool to remember the conversations you had with vendors.

After the show:

  1. Make sure to follow up with all the connections you’ve made during the show, and thank them for taking time to visit your booth or talking to you.
  2. Make sure to connect with prospects on social media. Check Twitter for hashtag mentions and @InfoCommShow account activity to stay up-to-date with everything that’s going on at the show. You might meet the person you wanted to talk to for a long time or reach out to an influencer.
